Helen Watson

Yoga Teacher Originally from New Zealand, Helen is a qualified and nurturing massage therapist, Hawaiian body worker and yoga teacher. She is the owner of Breathing Space Bodywork in Redlynch and feels very blessed to be living and practising in the lush, tropical environment in Cairns. Her connection to yoga began in 2002 when she was living in Hong Kong and teaching health education for a local charity group. In the middle of the colourful but often chaotic city she discovered a simple little sanctuary — a yoga school named 'Sriyoga'. From her very first class she felt a deep sense of peace and steadiness and has maintained a regular yoga practice ever since, under the guidance of some excellent teachers. Helen completed her first two Hatha Yoga Teacher Training programmes in Cairns in 2007, Magic Monkey Kids Yoga Training in Sydney in 2008 and then a further Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training in 2011 with Paul Dallaghan at Centered Yoga, Koh Samui, Thailand. In 2014 she delved a little deeper with Pre and Post Natal Yoga Teacher training with Ana Davies from Bliss Baby Yoga, Byron Bay. To date she has completed (and thoroughly enjoyed!) more than 600 hours of yoga teacher trainings that have included a detailed exploration of asana, pranayama, meditation, anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy, nutrition and pre and post natal yoga. Over the last 14 years she has practised as massage therapist, spa therapist and yoga teacher in natural health centres, gyms, schools, mental health centres, tropical day spas, on a cruise ship, in a chiropractic clinic and now at her own Breathing Space Bodywork Sanctuary. In her free time, Helen adores getting outside for a run, hike or explore in nature with friends & her gorgeous dog & adventure buddy, Ruby. Helen will be sharing her love, knowledge and passion for the healing capacity of both yoga and essential oils with our unique Aroma Yoga sessions at Wild Heart Yoga. She looks forward to welcoming you to class for some time of connection, exploration, inspiration and relaxation. No doubt you will leave her classes feeling (and smelling!) wonderful.
